TMS #230 continued....

Just popping in to remind you that we are in the middle of Tuesday Morning Sketches Challenge #230!   This is a 2 week challenge - "anything goes"!!  You've still got lots of time to play along, so please come join us!

Melissa is sponsoring and giving away a $10 Michaels gift card!!

I posted my card for this challenge  last week, but it didn't start out exactly that way.  I thought I'd show you how it was originally.  I made it for my DD's boss and when I got done, we both thought it too feminine for a man, so I took it apart and used more masculine papers.  I really liked this one, but the pink part of the DP just was in the wrong spot! LOL

Thanks for stopping by!  Be sure to go check out the creations from the rest of our DT...

Tuesday Morning Sketches #230

It is Christmas Eve!!  I want to wish you all a very Merry Christmas!!  I pray that this time is more than just presents and lots of good food for you!  Without Christ, there would be no CHRISTmas!  He was born in a manger so He could die on a cross to bring salvation to all who believe!!

Today is Christmas Eve and it is Tuesday!  Time for Tuesday Morning Sketches!!  My card was made for my daughter to give to her boss.  She works as a dental assistant, so even though this image is not a Christmas image, it worked for this card.  (He liked it!)  The image is Bugaboo's Occupation Bear Dentist.

My image is colored with Spectrum Noir markers.  The DP is MME Sweater Weather.  The large snowflake is an EKSuccess punch and the sentiment is from MME Holly Jolly stamp set.

I don't have a sketch to show you because this week is ANYTHING GOES!!!  No sketch and no twist, so we want you to share whatever you'd like to share this week.  Actually 2 weeks!  This challenge will run until Sun, Jan. 5th!!   Lots of time for you to play with your crafting goodies you get for Christmas!  { I know I'm getting some PK stamps that I want!! :) }

Thanks for stopping by!  Be sure to go check out the creations from the rest of our DT...

Sweet treats!

I'm taking a break from baking caramel corn to write up this post.  {I'm at about my 10th batch for this year -- most for gifts.  Today's is going to my DD's co-workers.}   For a couple of parties recently, I made some treats for everyone.  Our homeschoolers got "Reindeer Noses."  Our printer was having issues, so I could not print out any of the cute sayings for them, but they were pretty cute anyway.

The reindeer is from Create a Critter cut at about 2 1/2".  I cut the largest Spellbinders Labels Eight and folded it over.  Stamped a few snowflakes in white and hand wrote the words (*cringe* I did warn you that the printer was down!).

With the reflection on the bag, it is hard to tell, but there are 8 brown noses -for Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donner, and Blitzen- and one red nose for Rudolph! :)  They are Whoppers and a Cherry Sour.

Challenges...
Fantabulous Cricut #191 - anything but a card holiday edition
Die Cuttin' Divas #146 -  "happy holidays"
Anything but a Card #30 - anything goes w/ holiday twist
Cut It Up #34 - Christmas
D.L.ART Thankful Thursday #123 - Christmas

 ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

For our ladies Christmas fellowship at church, I made peppermint patty snowmen.  I saw them on Pinterest (click HERE to see original) and thought they would be cute.  I also thought they'd be quick and easy.  Nothing is ever as quick and easy as you think it will be!  Especially when you are making 40 of them!! :-P

I used 2", 1 1/2", and 1" punches for the circles.  The edges were rubbed with TH faded jeans.  I made my own hat and nose and cut them in MTC.   The faces are Peachy Keen Assorted faces, but I put a corner of paper down as I stamped so that only the eyes stamped on the face.  The arms are MS branch punch with the lower branches removed.   There is a peppermint patty between the bottom circles.  The original had a bow, too, but I left these to the last minute and didn't have time left that off. ;)

Thanks for stopping by and have a blessed day!!

Warm hugs & cocoa wishes - TMS #229

We finally got some snow over the weekend!!!  It's so beautiful!!  Now we'll just need to find the time to go skiing!

Today is Tuesday and that means it's time for Tuesday Morning Sketches #229.  Please check out the DT's creations, then play along with us for a chance to win!!

Our family are all excited about the snow and the fact that winter is finally coming because all fall, our weather has been going back and forth between "normal" and "unseasonably warm" or "unseasonably cold."   Weird!  But as soon as the temperature even begins to drop, my youngest daughter wants hot chocolate!   I've never been much of a fan (I can hear you all gasping!) but I do enjoy some after being out in the cold.  With my DD in mind, I made this card...

I love the polka dot paper!!  It even sparkles..

Here's the great sketch we are playing with this week...

Our sponsor is Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps!!  Plan along for your chance to win!!

My image is Cookie Warms the Heart digital stamp with a sentiment from Hot Cocoa Sentiments digital stamp. Both are from Sweet 'n Sassy. Cookie is colored with my Spectrum Noir markers.  The DP is Recollections "O Christmas Tree."  I used Fiskars Threading Water border punch and hand cut the banner.

I'm submitting it to these challenges...
Merry Monday #88 - use an animal
Bearly Mine #117 - anything goes

Thanks for stopping by!  Be sure to go check out the creations from the rest of our DT...

Snowman - TMS #228

Happy Tuesday to you!!  I've got a snowman for you!!  I wish I had enough snow for a real snowman in my yard!  *Sigh!*  Maybe soon!  I think I've mentioned that I love snow!!!!!!!!!  I want to skate on frozen ponds and I want to go skiing!

Enough whining... it's time for Tuesday Morning Sketches!!!
Today is our Judged Challenge with a Twist!!
This week's twist is Jingle (or any kind of) Bells or Snowmen!!  You know, something like these...

Though I can guarantee that you can find a cuter snowman and/or jingle bells!!!  Those guys are a little creepy, don't you think?  LOL

Here's my card...

I used MME Sweater Weather DP (LOVE this pad!  Going to have to find more!) and Snowman Cheer image and sentiment from Doodle Pantry. (It's an adorable FREEBIE so go get it!)  I used the colored image, but since my printer is on it's deathbed, I added a bit with my Spectrum Noir markers.

Here's our great sketch for this week...

Merry Christmas, "Deer"!!

19 Days and Counting!  :)   In years past, I have tried to be making CHRISTmas cards all through the year, but this year I did not do well with that at all!!  So I decided to cheat... we are sending picture cards to most people and the cards I did make will go to a special few.

This card was inspired by this one I saw on Pinterest.  Mine falls far short of that beauty, but I like it anyway.  I think mine is more on the masculine side.  Better ribbon and cord would help.  Next time!

I used Holiday Deer SVG Cuts from Doodle Pantry.  I just used the cut, but these SVG's work with Holly Stag and Merry Deer.  I just have a Cricut E so print and cut is too much work.  :/

The gold cardstock is from a 12x12 DCWV "Metallic" that I've had forever!  It is the same paper for the bottom panel and the deer but I guess the angle of the light on the card makes it look different.
I used up some scraps of ribbon and cord.  The sentiment is from My Craft Spot "Joy to the World" and is heat embossed with gold.  I tried something I read recently (can't remember where).  They suggested using the heat gun under the paper for a smoother "melting" of the embossing powder.  I don't heat emboss as much as I dry emboss, so I'm not sure it make a huge difference but it does look nice up close.

Challenges...
Cards for men 24 - anything goes
Digi Sketch Challenge - sketch and/or theme: Christmas
My Craft Spot Monday Challenge #120 - sparkle & shine
Paper Playtime #24 - anything goes
Bearly Mine #115 - Christmas sentiment
Clear It Out - anything goes
Terrific Tuesday - Tinsel time: use silver or gold

Thanks for stopping by and have a blessed day!!

Countdown to Christmas - TMS #227

How many days until Christmas now?  Only 22!!!    I love CHRISTmas time!!  I love the carols, the decorations, the special treats, but most of all, I love knowing that Jesus came to earth to be born in a manger, so He would one day die on the cross for me!!

Matthew 1:21 "And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name Jesus: for he shall save his people from their sins."  Jesus is the reason for the season!!

Here is my card for this week's challenge at Tuesday Morning Sketches!    For a very traditional "red/green for Christmas" kind of girl, I made a very non-traditional card!

My DP is Recollections "O Christmas Tree."  I colored the digi with my Spectrum Noir markers, cut it out with Spellbinders Circles and framed it with Spellbinders Lacy Circles.

Here is Melissa's wonderful sketch!!

Our sponsor for this week is Stamp Fairy!!  Why is my post titled "Countdown to Christmas"?  Because my image is the freebie that goes along with Barry Countdown to Christmas 1.  Stamp Fairy generously provided stamps for the DT, but I had this one already and when I saw the sketch, I knew it would be perfect for it!

"A Savior is Born!!"

This afternoon as I was making this card, the song from Handel's Messiah "For Unto Us A Child is Born" kept going through my head, so I found a beautiful version on Youtube and kept playing it (and singing along) as I finished the card!   I love to hear the Messiah!  When I was in college, every CHRISTmas season, we would sing "The Hallelujah Chorus."  (Well, I would try... I cannot even listen to that song without crying!)   It was so beautiful to hear thousands of voices raised in praise to the Lord!  I'm so thankful for this season as we focus on Christ's birth!

So here is my card... made with Little Bethlehem from Doodle Pantry. (This is a set of Laurie's formerly sold at CDS)

(My printer made the roofs blue!)

Here you can see everything you get with Little Bethlehem set...

Because our printer is having issues now, instead of using the digi paper (it looks too dull!) I used MME Sweater Weather.  I embossed the corner with Darice "Ivy Corner," distressed the edges with TH "vintage photo," added a bit of hemp, and a Prima flower and a brad.

I will mention this again tomorrow when I show you my creation for December's Release (which is already up and for sale) - - Doodle Pantry is having a SALE!!!

I turned the oval as that fit my image better, the image is colored with my Spectrum Noir markers, the DP is from Crate Paper, blue cardstock is from J's, and a bit of baker's twine finishes it off.  I did use my sparkle gel pen on her wings.  Very cute!

Butterfly & Blossoms - TMS #225

Happy Tuesday to you!  It is time for Tuesday Morning Sketches!!

This week, we've got a wonderful sketch by Melissa, a great sponsor, and a NEW DESIGN TEAM MEMBER!!  We are excited to have Kris join our team!!   Click on her name to go visit her blog and get to know her!

My image is from our sponsor... Paper Pretties!  I used Butterfly & Blossoms digi stamp.

Here's our beautiful sketch for the week...

I made mine A2 rather than square and did not have a charm for that element. *sad face*  My DP is from DCWV Tahiti Beach mat stack.  I used CB "With Gratitude" and Paper Studio "Wood Grain" EFs.  The fancy die is Spellbinders Fleur de Lis.  Making Memories brads, and a ribbon scrap finished it off.  I used a glitter pen on the flower and butterfly, but forgot to take a closeup pic so you could see how pretty it is IRL.

Thanks for stopping by!  Be sure to go check out the creations from the rest of our DT...

Harvest lunch bag centerpieces

On Saturday evening, we just had our Harvest Dinner at our church.  I was in charge of the decorations.   We did have some cornstalks, hay bales, and mums in the corner, but the main focus was on the tables.  Our tables are not very wide and there was going to be some food on them, so whatever I make has to take up pretty small spaces.  After searching and trying a few things I did not like, I came up with "bag vases."   I didn't get very good pics of the final product, but they worked will with the brown table runner, our orange chairs [ yuck!!  :-P ], and a fall theme.

K & Co fall paper was cut down to 8 1/2" x 11" so I could print verses on it.  I then used Spellbinders Labels Eight to cut them out, inked the edges, and mounted on larger labels.

I embossed the bottom part of the lunch bags...

I then opened it and placed 2 more bags inside to give it more stability to stand, inked the edges, and folded the top down...

I forgot a pic, but inside the bag, I glued down a chunk of Styrofoam  and added a few glass beads for weight. I glued 2 verse panels back to back with a wooden skewer in between, joined the skewer to a leaf bunch (dollar store!!!), added a bit of raffia (hard to see), poked it into the Styrofoam, then tied 2 lengths of twine to cinch the bag a bit.

Here's the final product again...
